Based on a brief report on hot weather status by NADMA, dated April 4, the new death on April 1 involved a three-year-old child in Kelantan.

There were no new deaths, same as a day earlier, keeping fatalities at 5,226.

MOH recorded a total of 3,856 new recoveries on Sunday, which brings the total number of recovered and discharged to 4,626,756.

The Ministry of Health reported 2,071 new recoveries, taking the total number of those recovered and discharged to 4,534,019.

Sarawak logged a total of 413 new COVID-19 cases and five new deaths yesterday.

The conditional movement control order (MCO) in Kuala Lumpur, Selangor, Sabah and several localities in other states has been extended until Dec 31, said Senior Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob.

He said the government made this decision following the advice and risk assessment of the Health Ministry, based on the trend and rising positive cases of Covid-19 in these places. The CMCO in these three states was scheduled to end on Dec 20.

Meanwhile, the Health Ministry today reported 1,683 new Covid-19 cases and no new deaths.

Dewan Rakyat Speaker Mohamad Ariff Md Yusof has accepted a motion of no-confidence against Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin.

However, it is unknown when this motion would be tabled, if at all as the one-day May 18 sitting will only discuss government business, according to Ariff in a statement.

Ariff said the motion of no-confidence was filed by Langkawi MP Dr Mahathir Mohamad.

In a separate development, today marked the third day in a row where no new deaths attributed to Covid-19 infections were reported by the Health Ministry.

Malaysia has reported more recoveries in the past 24 hours than new COVID-19 cases.

At a press conference on Wednesday, Health Ministry director-general Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said 166 recoveries were recorded, while the number of new cases detected stood at 156.

This puts the total number of cases at 4,119, with 2,567 of those cases still active.

Two new deaths were also reported, bringing the death toll to 65.

After recording the highest number of daily recoveries on Monday, Covid-19 cases in Malaysia grew on Tuesday, with 170 new cases. This brings the total number of cases to 3,963.

Health Ministry director-general Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah also reported one new death involving a man who had attended a religious gathering in Sulawesi from March 17 to March 24.

Malaysia has recorded 212 new Covid-19 cases over the past 24 hours - the highest daily increase since the start of the outbreak in late January.

This brings the total number of infections to 1,518 cases.

Previously, the highest increase was on March 15, with 190 new cases in a day.

Health Ministry Director-General Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said of the 212 new cases, 123 were traced to the tabligh gathering in Sri Petaling, Kuala Lumpur which took place late last month and has become the epicentre of the outbreak in Malaysia.

He also reported four new deaths, bringing the death toll to 14.

The health ministry also reported 302 new deaths, taking the total to 483,178.

WHO said were are about 9.5 million new cases and over 41,000 new deaths reported from Dec 27 of 2021 to Jan 2 of this year.

New South Wales state reported 863 new infections on Wednesday, level with a day earlier, and 15 new deaths.
